Hydrogenated petroleum resin is produced by subjecting petroleum resin to a hydrogenation process, which converts unsaturated hydrocarbons into saturated ones. This modification significantly improves the resin's color, odor, and weather resistance. The resulting product is typically water-white, odorless, and has a relative density of 1.01, offering enhanced aging resistance compared to conventional petroleum resin.

Widely used as a binder or functional additive, hydrogenated petroleum resin finds applications in adhesives, waxes, tires, paints, and inks. In adhesives, it improves tack, adhesion, and heat resistance. In paints and coatings, it enhances gloss, hardness, and weather ability. In tire manufacturing, it contributes to improved anti-slip performance.
